Joseph E. Shaner Company Launches Maryland Remodelers Center

(Baltimore, MD) - When should you replace your home's windows? What steps can you take to prevent costly repairs to your roof? How can you add light to your home? These are just some of the many questions addressed at the Maryland Improvement Contractors Association's (MICA) new Maryland Remodeling Center (www.MarylandRemodelers.com). The Joseph E. Shaner Company, an ASAE accredited association management company, developed the site targeting Maryland home owners.

MICA, a nonprofit association devoted to defending the rights of homeowners and the home improvement industry in Maryland has developed the site as an educational source for the state's homeowners. The site features a library of home maintenance tips as well as articles on the latest remodeling trends to improve the appearance, livability and overall value of homes in Maryland. The Center also boasts interactive features such as a tool consumers can use to ask MICA-member contractors questions regarding home improvement and maintenance. Also included is a search function through which homeowners can find a contractor in their area or by specialty.

"Smart consumers can make smart home improvement decisions by selecting their contractor from MarylandRemodelers.com. Here you will find licensed, insured, and upstanding contractors with proven track records," said MICA President Chris Garvey of Sun Spots, Inc. in Annapolis, MD. "This site is yet another tool for the prudent homeowner featuring home maintenance tips, articles on the latest home renovation trends and the ability to ask MICA member contractors any questions you may have... it's like visiting a home show from the comfort of your own computer."

Further resources include the ability to check to see whether a contractor is licensed in Maryland as well as information on MICA and its programs. The site will also be continually adding new tools based upon consumer input. One such project already in development is a home maintenance calendar.

The Joseph E. Shaner Co. in Baltimore has been named by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) as one of only 28 association management companies (AMC) nationwide to have met the standards of practice set by the ASAE AMC Accreditation Commission.
