Holmes To Coordinate Association Legislative Activities

(Baltimore, MD) - The Joseph E. Shaner Company (JES), a Baltimore-based association management company, has announced the hiring of Megan R. Holmes of Ellicott City to coordinate legislative activities for its various non-profit trade and professional association clients.

Holmes To Coordinate Association Legislative ActivitiesIn her new capacity, Holmes will serve as a liaison between JES-managed associations and their lobbyists. She will also assist in providing information to legislators and regulators on issues that affect the associations

"We are delighted to add Ms. Holmes to our staff," said Thomas C. Shaner, a Certified Association Executive and President of JES. "More and more the associations we manage are being required to provide legislative representation for the trade or profession they represent. The addition of Megan to the JES staff will greatly assist those associations."

Holmes just completed a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer serving in Nashville, TN and Baltimore performing public relations duties for non-profit organizations. She has a B.A. in Journalism, with a concentration in Public Relations, from the University of Maryland and completed the University Honors Program.

JES is one of a select group of national association management companies to have been named by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) to meet rigid standards of practice and to be recognized as an ASAE Accredited AMC.

Established in 1974, JES provides association management services to over a dozen prominently recognized non-profit trade and professional associations including the American Institute of Floral Designers, Professional Grounds Management Society, Maryland Optometric Association, Maryland Chiropractic Association, Maryland Association of Mortgage Brokers, Maryland Improvement Contractors Association and the Chesapeake Human Resources Association.

Also served by the Shaner organization are the Building Owners and Managers Association of Baltimore; the Maryland Chapters of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, Appraisal Institute, Criminal Defense Attorneys and Public Relations Society of America; Property Owners Association of Baltimore, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors of Baltimore and the Baltimore City Dental Society.
